Under direct supervision, assists the RN in the application of the nursing process. Obtains records and assess data. Report changes in patient’s behavior. Following in-service training and with the approval and supervision of a registered professional nurse, administers PO, IM, IV, and subcutaneous medications in a safe and knowledgeable manner. Identifies and responds to patient/client needs according to hospital standards. Anticipates needs where possible. Provides service to patients/clients according hospital standards. Keeps patients/clients informed of work progress. Promotes/provides comfort while waiting. Participates in health teaching to patients and families. Maintains security with computer access. Identifies patients using two identifiers. Documents and reads back all verbal or telephone orders and procedure results. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety of the patients served in assigned area.
Current NYS License to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse. ACLS/BCLS required. Bilingual Preferred: English/Spanish.
