Bronx Care Health System is offering an exciting opportunity to join our team of Speech-Language Pathologists within the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (ENT) as a Per-Diem Speech-Language Pathologist. You would be responsible to provide coverage during staffing shortages, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation and treatment of adult patients with communication, voice and swallowing disorders within the inpatient setting.
  • Evaluation and treatment of pediatric patients with feeding disorders within the inpatient setting.
  • Document accurate patient evaluation and treatment notes in the electronic medical record as per departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge about head and neck cancer, tracheostomized patients and use of Passy Muir Speaking Valves.
  • Consult with physicians and other health care practitioners related to diagnostic evaluation and treatment as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Speech Pathology.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency and competency in independently performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies is required
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Certification in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech & Hearing Association
  • Current New York State License in Speech-Language Pathology

Preferred Criteria

  • Two years of clinical experience in an acute care/outpatient setting
  • Experience with Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
