Overview

Responsible for the use of X-ray generating equipment to produce diagnostic radiographic examinations of patients, responsible for the protection of patients against the harmful effects of excessive and improper exposure to ionizing radiation, assist Radiologist during radiographic examinations, e.g., IVP, GI, Barium Enemas, etc, sort and assemble finished radiographs, and prepare for Radiologist's interpretation, maintain X-ray equipment and reports malfunctions to the supervisor, and maintain clean and safe work environment. Perform other related tasks, as needed.

 

Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patients (i.e. In-Patients, Emergency Room Patients or Private Out Patients); recognizes the need for and utilizes lead shielding where appropriate in accordance with departmental policies. Develops all X-rays when required. Provides patient comfort (e.g., bedpans, blankets) as required. Performs required clerical work when necessary to maintain patient records. Maintains a clean and orderly environment to include Radiology Room, Radiology Equipment, and Radiology Accessories. Informs appropriate personnel when equipment is in need of repair.

Responsibilities

- Performs and obtains high quality radiographs on all patients (i.e. In-Patients, Emergency Room Patients or Private Out Patients); recognizes the need for and utilizes lead shielding where appropriate in accordance with departmental policies.

 

 

- As required, transports patients to and from X-Ray rooms.

 


- Assists the Radiologist with hard-to-move patients when requested.

 

 

- Utilizes all X-ray equipment permitted with in the scope of their license and within the realm of their training.

 

 

- Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance to hospital policy.

 

 

- Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

 

 

- Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.

 

 

- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.

 

 

- Develops all X-rays when required.

Qualifications

A minimum of two (2) years of experience is preferred. Licensed by the State of New York as a Radiologic Technologist-- ARRT, Bilingual Preferred: English/Spanish

 

- Completion of approved course of study


- At least one (1) year of experience as an X-Ray Technician

 

- New York State License as X-Ray Technician (Legally Required)

 

- Completion of approved course of study in Radiology/X-Ray (Required)

 

- Computer Literate (Required)
