Overview

From treating illness to advising patient on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Nurse Practitioners provide a full range of services. The Nurse Practitioner’s focus is on health promotion, disease prevention, health education and counseling. Establsih and maintain postive relationships with parentsm, visitors and other employees.Interact professionally, courteously and appropriately with patients,vistors and other employees.Behave in a manner consistent with maintaning and other employees.Behave in a manner consistent with maintaing and  furthering a postive public perception of the hosptial and its employees. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic testd such as laab work and x-rays. diagnose and treat acute and cohronic conditions. Prescribe medications and other treatments. Manages patients overall care.

Responsibilities

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of BronxCare Health System and its employees.

 

 

- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the BronxCare Health System (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.

 

 

- Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays.

 

 

- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, infections and injuries.

 

 

- Prescribe medications and other treatments.

 

 

- Manage patients’ overall care.

 

 

- Counsel patients

 

 

- Help patients learn how their actions affect their health and well-being.

Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, and licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in the state of New York

 

- Must pass pharmacology examination with a grade of 90%

 

- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a healthcare setting

 

- Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner

 

- Certification in field of specialty

 

- Certification by the NY State Department of Education with prescriptive privileges.

 

- Bachelor’s in Nursing

 

- Master’s

 

- Basic Computer knowledge
