Overview

In collaboration with the Chairman, Department of Comp Psysch Emer Program, to improve oversight of contracts, rates, enrollment, collections and denials with all behavioral health managed care organizations

Responsibilities

1. 
To establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees.

 

 

2. 
For the Department of Psychiatry, to maximize revenue collections for both Hospital Programs and the Faculty Practice as outlined below.

 

 

3. 
To prepare revenue projections of proposed modifications to clinical and business processes and to prepare comprehensive business plans for new psychiatric services. In particular:

 

To review reports of billing and collection activities and investigate variances and/or discrepancies; communicates with appropriate financial, administrative, and professional staff on issues that impact billing and collections.
To manage projects including the collection and analysis of financial productivity data.


4. 
To interact & collaborate with physicians, Patient Financial Services, IT Division and other departments within BLHC to enhance and improve the collections within the various services within the Department of Psychiatry.

 


5. 
To work with PFS to develop comprehensive business plans to maximize Hospital’s revenues at outpatient Psychiatry programs; specifically to oversee the phasing out of COPS revenues and to maximize revenues from planned APG phase-in.

 

 

6. 
To prepare financial analyses for the transition of OMH-sponsored Continuing Day Treatment Programs to outpatient clinical sites and for the planned modifications to OASAS-sponsored Detoxification Programs.

 

 

7.

In collaboration with the VP, Revenue Cycle, to review patterns of managed care denials and to advise on the institution of those systems necessary to minimize their financial impact.

 

 

8. 
In collaboration with the Chairman, Department of Psychiatry, to ensure proper documentation within the medical record to substantiate Eclypsis coding and resultant charges for regulatory and financial compliance and to collect and disseminate information to the clinical and administrative staff to improve documentation of medical information in patient records.

 

 

9. 
In collaboration with the Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and the VP, Managed Care, to improve oversight of contracts, rates, enrollment, collections and denials with all behavioral health managed care organizations.

 

10. 
In collaboration with the VP, Managed Care to review and oversee modifications to current managed care agreements and, when necessary, to negotiate single case rate agreements for necessary services outside the scope of a current MCO agreement.

 

11. 
Other essential functions as deemed necessary.

Qualifications

- At least 5 years experience in Hospital financial planning with administrative authority. Masters’ Degree in Business Administration or its equivalent preferred.

 

- Master’s (Required)

 

- Major Fields of Study: Business (Preferred)

 

- Must have a flexible range of skills, including managerial, clinical and program development.

 

- Extensive skills, in finance, managed care, and cost-benefit analysis

 

- Microsoft Office Suite.
