Overview

Performs technical ophthalmic duties. Maintains clinical area. Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of The Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center and its employees.

 


- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.

 



- Performs patient work-ups, lensometry, autorefraction and vision screening accurately and efficiently.

 


- Performs additional diagnostic tests including visual fields, FA, NFA, Ultrasound, Pachymetry, etc.

 


- Orders supplies for clinical areas

 


- Opens and closes exam rooms. Stocks exam rooms.

 


- Sterilizes instruments according to OSHA and hospital standards.

 


- Participates in Performance Improvement/Quality Improvement process.

 


- Assists with the orientation of new staff and their skill development.

 


- Performs clerical support duties as required.

 


- Adheres to time and attendance rules and dress codes

Qualifications

- One (1) year experience in ophthalmology practice preferred.


- Completion of accredited program

 

- Certification – Ophthalmic Assistant (JCAHPO) (Policy Requirement) 

 

-  High School or GED (Required)

 

- Ophthalmic Testing Equipment (Required) 


- PC (Required)
