Provides overall management, administration and operation of all the programs associated with the Department of Ophthalmology to include, but not limited to: supervision of all administrative staff, scheduling and assignment of support staff, supervision of all patient billing operations and all day-to-day department operations. .
The incumbent will be part of the departmental management team, which will be composed, of the Chairman of the Department, Executive Director, Clinical Director and the Co-Directors of the Dental Residency Training Program..
Preferred: Experience in a community hospital or community health center.
- Reports to the Director of Ambulatory Services, will be resposible for successfully managing and operating a medical practice for one or more specialty disciplines and/or clinic sites in excess of thirty thousand (30,000) visits per year. Participates in operational planning, coordination and implementation of all projects and changes with the providers and other administration to solve complex problems. Conducts regular meetings with staff with direct reporting relationship and communicates information to the Director. Provides licensed practitioners with the resources to maximize effciency and productivity, meet patient needs and the financial objectives of the practice. Responsible for preparing site and staff for any and all surveys.
- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.
- Three to five (3-5) years management, healthcare management, or medical group management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Primary Care delivery including Health Service Administration, Financial Management, Supervision, etc.
- Bachelor's in Hospital Administration or related field (Required)
- Master’s in Hospital Administration, Business or related field (Preferred)
