Cardiovascular technologists are exposed to a minor level of radiation in the course of some
procedures, but the levels are closely monitored and protected against. During surgical procedures, they
spend a great deal of time standing and may be required to help lift and transfer patients, the
technologist will also prepare and position patient for the cardiac catheterization for angioplasty,
anesthetizing the area of insertion. as requested by the physician. Performs and obtains high quality,
high resolution imaging chain with adequate shielding and collimation essential for fluoroscopic
guidance on all patients.

-Responsible for obtaining imaging data in a manner prescribed by the Cardiologist.
-Familiarity with fluoroscopic, cardiac and radiographic equipment and other imaging systems.
-Documentation in GE MAC Lab and McKesson system.
-Two (2) years’ experience as an Cardiac Cath Tech or X-ray Technologist with minimally one (1) year experience working in an Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization Suite.
-New York State License as an X-ray Technologist, certification to inject per the requirements of section 89.40 of part 89.
-American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Registered).
-Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology.
