Speech & Language Pathologist

Bronx-Care Health System is the largest voluntary, not-for-profit health care system serving the

South and Central Bronx, with 972 beds at two hospital divisions, a comprehensive psychiatric program, two specialized long-term care facilities, and an extensive BronxCare network of medical practices, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center, that is providing close to one million visits annually.

Bronx Care Health System is offering an exciting opportunity to join our team of Speech-Language Pathologists within the Department of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (ENT) as a Per-Diem Speech-Language Pathologist. You would be responsible to provide coverage during staffing shortages, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Evaluation and treatment of adult patients with communication, voice and swallowing disorders within the inpatient setting.

Evaluation and treatment of pediatric patients with feeding disorders within the inpatient setting.

Document accurate patient evaluation and treatment notes in the electronic medical record as per departmental policies and procedures.

Demonstrate knowledge about head and neck cancer, tracheostomized patients and use of Passy Muir Speaking Valves.

Consult with physicians and other health care practitioners related to diagnostic evaluation and treatment as appropriate.

Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Speech Pathology.

• Must be availble to work three(3) days a week, 42 hours bi-weekly
• Proficiency and competency in independently performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies is required
• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Certification in Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech & Hearing Association
• Current New York State License in Speech-Language Pathology

Preferred Criteria

• Two years of clinical experience in an acute care/outpatient setting
• Experience with Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)
• Bilingual Spanish preferred
