Overview

Under the direction of the Director of Nuclear Cardiology Imaging and/or Senior Nuclear Imaging Tech. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require minimum independent, ingenuity and initiative in utilization of radionuclides for diagnosis and therapy of disease in humans.

Responsibilities

-Receiving and preparing patients for Nuclear Imaging testing and filling in proper form and documentation required in computer system.

-Positions and transfers patients; provides immobilization devices asrequired. Preparing placement of IV lines.

-Prepare radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.

-Equipment calibration and radioisotope assay operations. 

-Maintains records of radioisotopes receipt, usage, storage and disposal in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

-Maintain established department policies and procedures, objectives,quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

-Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance to hospital policy. 

-In the absence of Supervisor or Senior Technologist, may be designated as Technologist in-charge.

-Follows Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QC/QA) procedures as per departmental policy and maintains QC/QA records. 

-Participates in on-the-job training program for Cardiology fellows and new employees in handling radioactive pharmaceuticals and Nuclear Cardiac Imaging.

-Coordinates and maintain Nuclear Cardiac Imaging lab supply inventory. 

-Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

-Attendance and punctuality (Start of work and return to work from breaks and lunch) is maintained in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications

-Licensed by New York.
-Certification by the American Registry for Radiologic Technologist(ARRT-N) or the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).

-Minimum one(1) year in a clinical experience in Nuclear Cardiac Imaging.
