Prepares and dispenses medications for inpatients and outpatients according to orders by qualified prescribers.
-Performs various pharmacy functions such as preparing, labeling,
dispensing inpatient and outpatient medications as interpreted from the
direct orders of qualified prescriber. Supervises or is active in the
compounding of bulk or extemporaneous and medications, their
packaging and proper labeling. Including manufacturing records and
controls. Supervises use of all special pharmacy equipment.
-Maintains prescribed records of all medication orders and prescriptions
filled, including all controlled drug records.
-Performs and directs prepacking activities, dispensing of supplies to
other departments and discipline, routinely inspects all medicinal
supplies on station or in other departments maintaining documentation,
therefore, dispensing and accomplishes control on all controlled drug
floor stock and reviews and disposes of unused medication returns.
-Maintains adequate stocks of medications and supplies. Keeps
equipment and utensils in good condition. Requests assistance form
housekeeping, maintenance or other support departments when
needed.
-Supplies information to other professional or para-professional
personnel on request, instructs and In-service Training Programs and
participates in extra-institutional public relations activities on request.
-Assists Pharmacy Supervisor and Associate Directors in personnel
related functions.
-Instructs and educates outpatients on proper drug usage.
-Maintains a professional area at all times.
-One (1) year, with recognized internship acceptable.
-New York State Pharmacist License required.
-BS in Pharmacy required.
