Background check

All drivers will report to work On Time, in Hospital issued uniform, with ID visible above waist.

Upon receiving vehicle keys and log sheet, drivers must inspect their assigned vehicle for fluid leaks, body damage and/or deficiencies throughout day’s activity periodically and record deficiencies on the vehicle log sheet.

Driver cleans vehicle inside and out and disinfects vehicles as trained.

Drivers must inspect their assigned vehicle for damage throughout their detail.

Deliveries going to hospital facilities must be transported by the driver on every trip from each facility. Specimens must be transported in provided red coolers.

Delivery items that require a signature: The delivery receipt will read Signature Required. The driver must then obtain a signature upon delivery and submit said receipt to the office.

Vehicle maintenance is the responsibility of the driver (e.g., tires, light beams, horn, brake).

Assists in loading/unloading of materials, equipment and passengers.

Drivers should keep their licenses on them while working.

Must be able to change tires, pump gas, add vehicle fluids when needed.

Must notify Transportation Department of any problems pertaining to: License revocation/suspension, deliveries, vehicle malfunction/damage or accidents immediately.

Vehicle Log Sheets must be submitted on a daily basis. Also, prepare pre-trip inspection of vehicle.

Hospital issued cellphones must be charged and kept on.

Develop Ability to Operate Motor Vehicles A. Acquire basic skills for manipulating controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving vehicle. B. Learn handling characteristics and develop awareness for vehicle. C. Develop knowledge of the height, width, length and weight of vehicle to operate vehicle safely in a full range of traffic conditions. D. Generate skills in recognizing road, weather and traffic hazards as they develop.

Other Skills Pertinent to Motor Vehicle Operation A. Operate vehicles in inclement and severe weather conditions. B. Operate vehicles in mountainous areas or rough terrain. C. Operate vehicles on loose surfaces. D. Load, secure and transport light cargo, supplies, etc. E. Procedure to take when involved in accident or mishap.

Read and write English. Excellent communication

Responsibilities

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center and its employees.

 


- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Health Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.

 


- All drivers will report to work in Full Dress and On Time.

- Must be able to change tires.

 

 

- Must notify Transportation Department of any problems pertaining to: License revocation/suspension, deliveries, and vehicle malfunction/damage immediately.

 

 

- Vehicle Log Sheets must be submitted on a daily basis. Also, prepare pre-trip inspection of vehicle.

Qualifications

- Must be 21 years old.


- Must be able to read and comprehend a road map and be able to prepare an accident report (MV104A)


- Must be able to read line number eleven (11) of the New York Motor Vehicle Eye Chart with corrective glasses or contact lenses.


- No necessary experience, will train.

 

- New York State Class #4 License (Legally Required) (Policy Requirement)


- New York Defensive Driving Course Certificate (Policy Requirement)

 

- High School or GED (Required)
