The physician assistant (PA) has comprehensive responsibilities to manage and assist the Orthopedic department in the areas of inpatient surgery, major joint replacement and spine, peri-operative care, surgical preparation, and outpatient evaluations.
To function as a staff physical therapist in an active outpatient pediatric setting. The therapist will work with a wide variety of diagnoses and disabilities. The therapist will have the opportunity to participate in specialty clinics including wheelchair/seating clinic, Orthotic/prosthetic clinic. There is strong emphasis on working together as a team to assure the best care for our patients.
The Physician Assistant is to be considered an Allied Health Professional. His/Her responsibilities will be to assist
the physician in the performance of his health care duties within the hospital/office setting. At times, with the
approval and under the direction of a physician, the Physician Assistant will be permitted to assume a portion of
the duties and responsibilities of the physician, as if the physician were performing them himself. The Physician
Assistant is responsible for assisting the physicians during scheduled surgery and office calls. In the event that the
physician will be late for office call, the PA will screen the patients and where possible will administer appropriate
